Moving to Charleston, South Carolina?

Hello, I am moving to Charleston with my wife and son. I'm trying to determine what the neighborhoods to settle in. I lived in Charleston eight years ago for about six months and have not been there since I'm not a day in the neighborhood. Although I do not remember Isle of Palms (sometimes great)! I loved the history, charm and quality Charlestonians gentiles. I would like to stay near the coast and inland areas, rather than inside. I thought James Island and Mount Pleasant and want to Know the advantages and disadvantages of both. We live in an area with a little life, not what we need to get into the car every time we want to leave the house to do something. A city with markets, cafes, etc. .. nearby. These houses on the docks with Intercoastal and value? Furthermore, it appears that housing prices began to sink if we think in waiting to buy, but I like to buy soon. Thanks!
