How Old Fashion Delicious Cake

Sometimes we have to really like the past experience of a good recipe. Here are some cake recipes my collection of vintage recipes. Try this setback grape cake for a different cake really small. This recipe makes one 8-inch square cake; little, but tasty. Mama Cake fresh rhubarb pie is my mother when I was a child. Mom is gone for several years now, but I still like a piece of delicious cake.

Reverse GRAPE CAKE

2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons tablespoons sugar
1 1 / 2 cups red seedless grapes, halved
1 1 / 3 cups baking mix (like Bisquick)
1 / 4 cup granulated sugar
1 / 3 cup milk
2 v. tablespoons canola oil
1 / 2 c. teaspoon almond extract
1 egg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in an oven for 8 inch square pan placed in the oven. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle brown sugar over margarine. Arrange the grape halves on brown sugar or butter cream. In a medium bowl, combine baking mix, sugar, milk, oil, almond extract and egg. Beat the mixture vigorously for a minute and a half. Pour the mixture over the grapes. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes or until what toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately invert on a serving plate heat resistant. Let pan stay in place during a minute then remove. Serve hot. Add whipped cream, if desired.

MOM'S CAKE fresh rhubarb

1 1 / 2 cups brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup sour milk *
2 cups flour
1 / 2 cup shortening
1 / 4 cup salt
Soda 1 c. Tea
Teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon
1 1 / 2 cups raw rhubarb, finely chopped
1 / 2 cup chopped nuts

Mix the ingredients thoroughly and pour into greased oblong. Mix 1 / 2 cup sugar, 1 / 2 teaspoon cinnamon and one tablespoon of butter. Sprinkle the dough before baking in an oven at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
